The first post-Covid edition of the Olympiad was held in 2021, where the students finally had a chance to take the examinations with their school mates and then meet the other competitors as well. 48,125 candidates participated in the preliminary round of 9th edition of Hippo English Language Olympiad. 

5,964 students competed in the semi-final round, in bigger towns all around the world. In 2021, the first ever Qualifiers were held – just before the final round in Rimini, Italy.

The World Finals, held in Venice, hosted around 186 students, their teachers, other guests and sponsors.
